What is Design Thinking
Design Thinking is an iterative approach that seeks to understand the user, question assumptions, and reframe challenges to uncover alternate tactics and answers that may not be immediately evident. Design Thinking also gives a solution-based approach to challenges.
Design Thinking is driven by a sincere desire to understand the people we design goods or services. It aids us in seeing and empathizing with the user Design Thinking aids us in examining the issue, the assumptions, and the consequences. Design Thinking is particularly beneficial in solving ill-defined or unknown challenges by re-framing the problem in human-centric ways, brainstorming various ideas, and prototyping and testing. Sketching, prototyping, testing, and experimenting are part of Design Thinking.
Design Thinking as Out of the Box thinking
Design Thinking aims to enhance digital applications by examining how people interact with them and researching their operating circumstances. Out-of-the-box thinking includes testing prior hypotheses to see whether they are accurate. The solution-generation method will assist us in generating ideas that represent the proper limits and features of a challenge. Design Thinking allows us to dig a little deeper, perform better research, prototype and test our goods and services, and find new methods to improve them.
Design Thinking as a non-linear approach
Iterative and non-linear processes characterize Design Thinking. This simply implies that the design team is constantly reviewing, challenging, and improving its original assumptions, understandings, and findings. The final stage of the preliminary workflow results contributes to our understanding of the problem. It assists us in defining parameters, facilitates us to reframe the issue, and, perhaps most notably, provides us with new insights that enable us to see any possible approaches that were previously unavailable to us at our current level of understanding.
6 STEP of Design Thinking TO SOLVE PROBLEM
Empathy, definition, inspiration, prototyping, testing, and execution are all aspects of the design thinking process. So let’s take a closer look at each of these stages.
Empathize implies learning about the individuals you’re attempting to aid or solve a problem for. You will need to know what these folks do, say, desire, think, or feel. That’s how you’ll understand them.
This doesn’t have to be a huge undertaking. You just need enough info to comprehend your audience’s viewpoint.
You want to identify unmet user demands. First, examine your study findings and the situation at hand. Next, check closely to see what doesn’t overlap.
Could the situation or circumstance be improved to fit the needs of those you’re seeking to assist? Again, you’re hunting for missed chances.
The third phase is when creativity kicks in. Ideation creativity is not limited to brainstorming and lateral thinking. By creativity, I don’t mean you have to be an artist. Just go free with the solutions.
Don’t hold back; go as crazy as you can here. Exchange ideas with colleagues. Build on each other’s ideas. Go mad. Enjoy. This is where you must come up with plenty of unique ideas.
Prototyping is used to gather feedback on which elements of your ideas require refinement and which will never work. Next, you’ll need to build models of some of your thoughts from the brainstorming stage.
Prototyping is preferred here since it allows for smaller, faster feedback loops. But, and this is crucial, the evaluation is still internal. You want to make sure your concept is fully formed before validating it with real users, customers, or community members.
Test your prototypes with your target audience.
Revisit your target audience and get comments. You want to know if your solution fits their demands and requirements. Then, adapt your concept based on their input to make it great.
We’ve reached the end of design thinking. Once you’re happy with your solution, make it happen.
A website or an application, the day will come when you turn your idea into reality. But, first, you must ensure that your solution is executed for the target audience, i.e., the individuals you attempt to assist.
